Look, I’m making it up!

“Look, I’m Making it Up!” is a magical story that introduces children to the concept of improvisation and develops their creativity and curiosity.

This interactive book is the story of Camilo, a creative boy learning about the magic of improvisation. Camilo sets on a journey where he is exposed to different forms of improvisation and discovers his many creative sides. We added three games to this book in which users can improvise and play freely while making their own unique creations.

In the age of technology creativity stands out as a key component for future generations to succeed with, both personally and professionally. Early development of open mindedness, imagination and the ability to improvise will set our children on a road to success in tomorrow’s world. With “Look, I’m Making it Up!”, our goal is to bring these important concepts to kids in a clear, enjoyable and interactive way.

The Challenge

How can we teach kids about improvisation? Although many kids improvise intuitively, they don’t necessarily know what the word improvisation means. We wanted to explain and simplify the concept and benefits of improvisation.

The Solution

We created a character, Camilo, which kids can relate to. The story follows Camilo as he engages in various activities, such as music, baking, dancing and painting. In each of these, Camilo chooses to make something up and do things his own way.

At the end of the story Camilo has an a-ha moment in which he realizes that what he has been doing all along is improvisation.
